Directions
Directions
- Go to this website: www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/
- Click “Login to TEACH”
- Type your username and password and click sign in
- Click the button that says “TEACH Online Services”
- If a screen pops up titled “Classroom Teacher/School Leader and Level III Teaching Assistant Registration” then follow the prompts to register.
- If the Registration screen doesn’t pop up, click the link titled “View Registration Status” under Inquiry Links section and follow the prompts to register.
If subject to Registration and/or CTLE requirements, certificate holders are required to register in their birth month after 7/1/2016. If you have any questions as to whether a certificate holder is required to register and/or meet CTLE requirements, please see the Chart for Registration and CTLE Requirements here:
At the present time, we are asking all certificate holders to please visit the Office of Teaching Initiatives website, access their TEACH account, and update their information or self-register if they have not already created a user name and password. You may log onto TEACH: www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/

Permanent or Professional classroom teachers/school leaders and Level III Teaching Assistant certificate holders will be subject to Registration if they are practicing in a NYS school district or Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). Practicing means employed 90 days or more during a school year by a single applicable school in a position requiring certification.
Level III Teaching Assistant and Professional classroom teacher/school leader certificate holders that are subject to Registration are subject to CTLE. If you are NOT practicing in a NYS school district or BOCES, you may elect to choose the status “INACTIVE” when it is time for you to choose to a registration status after 7/1/2016 during your month-of-birth in 2016 or 2017.

Level III Teaching Assistant and Professional classroom teacher/school leader certificate holders that are subject to Registration are subject to CTLE. Registration
Who? Permanently certified classroom teachers, professionally certified classroom teachers & Teaching Assistant Level III
What? Register with NYSED every five years
Where? Registration will be done on TEACH System (http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/)
When? You are required to register during your birth month during the 2016-17 school year
Continuing Teacher & Leader Education (CTLE)
Note: CTLE is the new acronym for professional development (PD)
Who? Professionally certified classroom teachers & Teaching Assistant Level III (Permanently certified classroom teachers are exempt)
What? Successfully complete 100 clock hours of acceptable CTLE during the registration period if they are employed in a NYS Public school or BOCES during your 5 year registration period.
Recordkeeping Requirements
CTLE certificate holders shall maintain a record of completed CTLE, which shall include: the title of the program, the total number of hours completed, the number of hours completed in language acquisition addressing the need of English language learners, the sponsor's name, attendance verification, and the date and location of the program. Such records shall be retained for at least three years from the end of the registration period in which the continuing teacher and leader education was completed and shall be available for review by the Department upon request.
The district will be keeping track of hours inside of PDP Timekeeper but individuals must keep a second record as well.
