The Pioneer Faculty Association (PFA) wishes you and your loved ones a healthy, happy, and safe holiday season. With the weather getting colder, more of us will be using our fireplaces and wood burning stoves to warm our homes. Please be sure to first have your wood burning stove or fireplace and chimney cleaned and inspected every year by a qualified professional (There are several reputable companies in the area that offer these services at affordable prices). Pioneer Corps, the community service wing of the PFA has been helping local families recover from house fires for years through generous donations from Pioneer teachers and administrators. In fact they have distributed nearly $5,000 dollars helping area residents just in the last 12 months. According to founding member Bob Schooley, “We deal with four or five house fires each year in the district. We’ve already had two this year.” Virtually all house fires can be prevented simply by being educated on the potential risk factors. Mark Schultz, Pioneer High School Principal and Arcade Firefighter, recommends that district homeowners be aware of the safety risks outlined on the web page of the National Fire Protection Agency:
